HOUSING QUALITY

Good housing quality

Whether you own or rent, everyone benefits from a healthy and safe home. The home should not only be of quality, but also adapted to its occupants. How do you know if the housing quality is adequate? Are interventions to the home needed? As Woondienst Regio Tielt, we advise and guide you through the regulations.

Flemish housing quality standards

Flemish housing quality standards are requirements that every home, from apartment to room, must meet. With our housing quality sheets you can check yourself whether your home complies with the requirements. Of course, you can also make an appointment to go over everything together.

Unfit or uninhabitable dwelling

Housing quality is checked against the minimum quality standards. In these, possible defects are divided into major and minor defects. Major defects are e.g. risk of electrocution, fire or explosion; minor defects can be: limited moisture damage, insufficient ventilation, …

As soon as one major defect or seven minor defects are found, a dwelling is unfit. In case of acute danger, the mayor can declare the house uninhabitable. As Woondienst Regio Tielt, we can help you with a quality survey, mediation with the owner and the search for a new home. Feel free to make an appointment.
